  5.     Will the Keating Five become the Keating Three? Maybe, if
  6. the Senate ethics committee heeds its lawyer's recommendation
  7. that Democratic Senator John Glenn of Ohio and Republican
  8. Senator John McCain of Arizona be cleared, for insufficient
  9. evidence, of accusations that they granted improper favors to
  10. former S&L owner Charles H. Keating Jr. That would leave
  11. Arizona's Dennis DeConcini, Michigan's Donald Riegle and
  12. California's Alan Cranston, all Democratic Senators. Keating
  13. and his associates contributed $1.4 million to the five men, who
  14. intervened on his behalf with federal regulators. The
  15. committee, which has heard from Glenn, McCain and DeConcini,
  16. is expected to vote this week on whether to continue
  17. investigating some or all of the Senators.
